So, hey, jaw didn't break - there was enough bone to just cut the tooth
out. Thrilling, no? I'm still feeling pretty sketchy, but, hey, it's only
been 4 hours. I wanted to be loopy and not out and, well, they say that I
was loopy! I was heard singing songs and telling jokes... Still very very
spacey. And no percocet - they gave me endocet...

That's basically Tylenol with Codeine right? Is it working... or maybe you
should a few more hours and then answer.

Looks like it's the same thing as perc. Anyway, I took one, waited an hour
then said my little prayer to the porcelain god. I don't believe that I'll
be repeating the experiment.

Are you sure that was the drug? I did the same thing after my wisdom teeth
came out, but it was because I swallowed blood, and then drank milk when I
got home.....gross.....

It's a moot point, really, since _I_ don't need the stuff. I'm doing fine
right now and I'm on, well, a fat lot of nothing.

OKEYDOKEY, so how's that novocaine? I have to say, the day after mine I
went all day without taking anything, as time goes on, I want to take it all
the time, I went the whole day at work with just ibuprofen, and my whole jaw
is just throbbing, got the ice bag on it now and a half a perc in my tummy.

NO IT WON'T. Dude, I've been clamping for an hour and a half. No pain at
all. Still, it was weird (gross) poking at the spot where formerly I had a
tooth... Poking with a finger on the other side of my cheek, of course.
But gross.

Likely lucky she pukes as that's an indication a reaction to the drug. My
wife reacts but does not puke. It was touch and go at the ER until the docs
figured out the problem (Don't know why but I'm luckily carried ALL her
meds with us when dashed out the door for the ER)

Glad to hear it went well, hope you don't have too much after-pain. I've
only had dental surgery once (wisdom teeth) and I remember lots of pain,
and lots of darvon...they don't give that anymore, tho, as it's a pretty

Maybe. If you're real nice to me. My neck is bugging me, my chiropractor did
a minor adjust to me last week and it has aggravated my neck pain. Dammit,
she wasn't supposed to do any cervical adjustments yet, and we both forgot

You actually don't think I'm going to tell him, do you?!? I know I didn't
break the fusion, the pain is in the muscles, not the spine. It was fully
fused in 3 months, and I'm at six months now. Besides, I got that titanium
plate holding everything together. I don't think she could break the fusion
even if she tried.

I wouldn't tell him unless you wanted an ass kicking - why would you even risk
screwing up your neck now? You can get massage for the muscles, you don't need to
jerk your spine around. Crikey!

Hey, I'm going to play basketball this fall if he lets me (that's how the
disk got ruptured in the first place, some asshole nearly pulled my left arm
out of it's socket, and I'm positive this disk was already partially
herniated from heavy weightlifting I was doing in the preceding months) --
I'm not going to give up activities I really enjoy unless they are truly
dangerous to my neck (like using the weight machines in the gym that
compress the spinal cord). I *have* given up diving for ground balls in
softball though......but in reality, just using the neck as an excuse not to
get dirty and get cuts all over my legs and arms like I used to (lots of
little rocks on our fields).

No, not really.......I've had a mid-back recurring problem for many years
(different problem from my lumbar disk problem), my thoracic vertabrae get
twisted out of place all the time and cause some pretty bad pain in the
muscles between the bottoms of my shoulder blades (the rhomboids?). She
puts'em back into place once a month (I can hear them pop when she shoves
them back where they belong).

Hint, titanium can break.
My SO had one of the screws in her spine break from the first surgery.
She had slipped and fell agaiin at work, which broke the screw and
seperated the fusion also.

Well, I could get rear-ended on the way home from work tonite and the
whiplash might break the fusion -- I'll have to live with that risk the rest
of my life. I'm just not going to live my life in fear of re-injury, is all.

Nope, uderstand what you mean.

My SO feels the same way. Only thing she still tries to do too much and the

Who knows, I think that two days is way too fast to see results from probiotics, the
Candida infection, if you have it, takes a lot longer to go away than that. Maybe
you had something else?

It wasn't that the yeast magically disappeared, it was that my body started
digesting minerals and nutrients properly due to the new flood of good
bacteria in my gut (my main problem was muscle cramping). My extreme fatigue
went away too, another sign of what was going on.

I don't have any problem with that attitude, look what I do, ride big 1200
pound beasts with brains the size of a grapefruit (or at least until this
week I did)- I could get killed just standing next to one, but I won't NOT
do it because if I'm smart and careful, I can diminish the risk and still
enjoy myself.

Can't help but think that there are better ways to treat your back than
shoving everything around all the time - if it was strong enough it wouldn't
slip out of place, would it? So maybe specific exercise instead of
maniupulation? I went to a chiro after my first bad whiplash, the first few
times it felt better, but after a year and he still had to keep doing the
same thing, it wasn't healing me, and manipulating your spine like that on a
regular basis is not a good idea, so I stopped going and went to PT to
strengthen it for good. Fess up, you just like going cause she's a

I don't believe that manipulating various body parts is bad for you at
all -- in fact I think the opposite. If something gets out of kilter and you
don't get it fixed the problem spreads to other parts of the body. For
instance, my hips get rotated, constantly. That causes really bad lower back
pain (it make one leg a tad shorter than the other). Me and my chiro decided
years ago that once a month visits are the best course of action for me, and
it has worked ever since. I have a malformed vertabrae in my lower back that
causes the problem, can't stop the problem from happening, so we do what we
have to do.....

Not if you do it carefully and intelligently, but there's inherent danger is just
driving to work, so what are we supposed to do, stay home?

I will say that my lower back has always bothered me, between riding, and then
mucking stalls and lifting water buckets on weeknds, I was always stiff and sore.
When I started going to the gym and using those machines for the lower back, my
stiffness went away the stronger I got. That's about the only part of the gym I
miss. Hmm....maybe now that I'm not riding, I'll go back again....

Depends, muscles and ligaments etc, those wouldn't be damaging, but cracking your
spine joints, constantly, I personally don't think that's healthy. It's one thing if
you do it to fix something, then it's fixed for good, if you have to keep doing it,
then something is weak that allows it to slip out of place, and that should be fixed
instead of constantly messing with your joints.

I'm a regualar Drug Store here.
But unfortunatelly, it's all for one person.

Hey, I even found some percocet from her last surgery. Almost the whole
bottle still left because it didn't help with the pain and that was when
she went to Morphine.

REALLY got to throw some of this stuff away. Some if it has to beyound the
expire dates. I'm just the type who thinks it's always good to keep some
reserve. :)

Selfish and MISERABLE - my tooth, actually upper AND lower jaw last night hurt more
than it has in a week, ice pack and all, I had to take two percoset last night. I
couldn't find my jiffy toothache drops either, which may have helped, so I guess I
need to go to the drugstore on the way home.

I knew that, those are just the brand names for oxycodone 10/500, the
typical pill handed out. I prefer 20/325's myself, more bang for the buck
and less tylenol, which is bad for your liver and doesn't do dick for the
pain (in my body anyway). I don't even think tylenol has anti-inflammatory
properties, does it? No as good as ibuprofen, in any case.

Harrumph, I got cheated, I only got 5/325...... Tylenol doesn't do crap for me,
wonder why I can't just have oxycodone on it's own and take ibu with it?

You sure about that? I know they mix oxy or hydrocodone with _aspirin_, but
I've never seen that combo you're describing (and I've taken just about
every narcotic painkiller ever made, no joke). Try dilaudid

Ok, I looked it up. Vicoprophen, it is hydrocodone and ibuprophen. I
haven't had much experience with painkillers. My wife's knees are bad

That's what I ended up doing with my neck -- when the pain extended into
months I asked my surgeon to put me on oxycontin and ibruprofen instead of
continuing to take those tylenol containing pills (oxycontin is pure
oxycodone, time released, but I'd sometimes chew the tablet to get immediate
relief).

But hey, Charles, my last (THE last one too) scrip ran out and my neck hurts

That goober on the radio got more. Maybe it was legal, maybe it wasn't

It's only bad for your liver if both of the following:
1: you take more than the prescribed amount
2: you're an alcoholic

At least, that's my understanding of the matter.

Not just alcohol - a lot of alcohol. And extended use of large amounts.
So, like, it seems to me that there isn't much of a problem for most
people, then, is there? Well?

Fine, not just with alcohol. Also with an OD on tylenol. But, then, other
than because you were in incredible pain, why would you do something like
that?

It's never had an affect on me -- I get my liver enzymes checked every 3
months along with my cholesterol tests and have never had any problems
detected. Guess I don't drink enough......cuz I've surely drank alcohol and
taken those pills enough times for something bad to happen if it was
gonna......

Oh dear, have you tried the warm tea bag? Something in the tannin is
supposed to help stop the bleeding - did they tell you to try that, or just
give you a big envelope of gauze?

Oh dear, have you tried the warm tea bag?
No.
http://www.animated-teeth.com/tooth_extractions/t6_extraction_instructions.htm

It is both firm pressure and maintaining this pressure for a period of 45
minutes or so that are important factors in this technique. Don't keep
changing the gauze, just put some in and then clamp down on it for 45
minutes to an hour.

If the bleeding seems to be persistent a slightly moistened tea bag can be a
very effective substitute for gauze. One of the components of tea (black
tea, the regular stuff you would make iced tea from) is tannic acid. Tannic
acid can aid in the formation of blood clots and this technique can be very
effective. (Same instructions as above, just substitute a tea bag for the
gauze.)

If a small amount of bleeding persists after 45 minutes then repeat these
instructions. If heavy bleeding is still present then contact your dentist.
